Scuba Fabric By The Yard In 2023

After a long period of isolation and disruptions, the fashion industry is still in a phase of recovery and adjustment. This is also reflected in the 2023 spring and summer trends: sportswear and leisure style will keep bringing optimism while being multi-functional for all accasions. In the face of ups and downs in new waves of the virus, consumers will dive deeper to explore or continue with daily fitness habits. The Beijing Winter Olympics will also cause a global sports bloom especially in winter sports.

With the development of modern technology and changing lifestyle, younger brands and youth generation are looking for personalized styles. In early Spring 2022, Wuman introduces the futuristic technology theme, full of visual impacts! The scuba fabrics, also known as sandwich fabrics, matches well to this theme, as it gets more and more popular among young people. Scuba product series include polyester spandex, polyester spun rayon spandex, etc. We believe scuba will be loved by consumers at home and abroad down the road.

What is scuba fabric:

Scuba is a lofty double knit fabric made of polyester fibre that has two-way stretch. It has a low lustre sheen and a full body drape on both sides. This fabric is very popular among fashion brands due to its versatility and the body it provides to a garment. Because of its lofty hand feel, it is frequently compared to neoprene, but neoprene is technically foam and not "fabric," and it is not as malleable as scuba.

This fabric has a horizontal stretch of 30 to 50% and is made of 95% polyester and 5% spandex. This fabric is extremely adaptable. Consider shorts, skirts, and dresses sewing patterns which require only horizontal stretch for best results.

Used for :

Scuba fabric is a type of double knit and as a fabulous stretch jersey fabric which made from polyester and high-stretch spandex. So this is great made into figure hugging dresses, tops and skirts. This meterial with a smooth but fairly thick texture. It is springy so is perfect for shaping skirts.

Wash and care:

1. Pre-wash your fabric, as you would with any other fashion fabric. Use a medium-heat wash, 30-40ºC. Do not tumble dry as the heat will damage scuba fabric.

2. Scuba fabric can be uncomfortable to wear in hot weather as it is densely knitted and won’t ‘breathe’ like woven fabric so avoid bodycon dresses made from scuba in the summer.

3. Use a low setting on your iron when pressing scuba to avoid marking or even melting the fabric. Use the tip of the iron to get into the seams to press them open. If ironing from the right side, cover the fabric with a press cloth first to prevent shine.

The benefit for scuba fabric:

1. The structure of the air layer fabric adopts a three-layer structure inside, outside, and inside, and there is an air interlayer between each layer. This structure determines that the fabric will have a good thermal insulation effect. Some elastic filling yarns can be filled between the inner, middle and outer interlayers, which can not only keep warm but also increase the elasticity of the fabric.

2. This sandwich structure can absorb moisture in the air, so the fabric has good water-absorbing performance. In addition, the air-layer fabric will not wrinkle no matter how it is folded. Finally, the air-layer fabric is easy to shape and does not need to be locked. Edge, fabric color options are many.
